PROCESS-FOCUSED EXPERIENCES

TOP's "Community Chalkboard" @ the John Waldron Arts Center Rose Firebay Bloomington, Indiana
Purpose: To explore project-based performance art using minimalist and unconventional collaborative art ensemble processes.
Objectives: TOP will facilitate an inclusive learning lab of creativity comprised of Bloomington residents, IU students, and other Hoosiers to produce dramatic arts through ensemble-building processes. TOP will focus on teambuilding, positive reinforcement and collective creativity toward the goal of producing full-length community artwork for public presentation. TOP's "Community Chalkboard" is based in scientific methodology and includes hypothesis testing, trial and error procedures, and evaluative techniques to support or further improve upon established ensemble processes.
Methods: * Produce several collaborative art "projects" throughout the year to maximize opportunities for theatre artists regardless of experience, skill, or previous type casting. * Focus on the "process" of creating ensemble artwork instead of the end "product" of a public performance. * Develop individual progress reports based on personal development goals and cast artists into challenging roles within challenging shows. * Expand artistic experience and skills to include all aspects of community theatre art, including but not limited to set/prop/costume construction, production administration, and group leadership. * Reward individual efforts to participate in democratic artistic processes and teamwork based on ensemble-creating collaborations * Request volunteer participant feedback throughout the process to assess program successes and methods to improve upon during future projects.
